Scout Gap ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use the Scout Gap platform and services.
1. What Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Email address — collected when you create an account, via our authentication provider Clerk.
- Payment information — processed securely by Stripe when you subscribe to a paid plan. We do not store your credit card numbers, CVVs, or full card details on our servers.
- Usage data — including pages visited, features used, opportunity briefs viewed, and interactions with our platform. This helps us understand how the service is used and where to improve.

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Service delivery and account management — to provide you with access to Scout Gap, manage your account, and deliver opportunity briefs to you.
- Billing and subscription management — to process payments, manage your subscription tier, and handle upgrades, downgrades, and cancellations.
- Product improvement and analytics — to analyse usage patterns, improve our AI-generated intelligence, and enhance the overall user experience.
- Email communications — to send you important updates about your subscription, service announcements, and changes to our terms or policies.
3. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following trusted third-party services to operate Scout Gap:

- Clerk — provides secure authentication and user management. See Clerk's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare — provides hosting, content delivery, and security services. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third parties.
4. Data Retention

- Payment records — retained as required under Australian tax law (currently up to five years) for compliance and audit purposes.
- Usage analytics — anonymised after 12 months. Once anonymised, this data cannot be linked back to your account.
